Introduction and Background

Until the 1970's, most people were unaware of what impact greenhouse gas emissions had on the climate, peoples health and future food security. Due to the worlds ever increasing demand for cheap and readily available electricity, producers turned to carbon based fuels which has led to increase in emissions of greenhouse gases. The result has been a depletion of the earths ozone layer which protects us from the sun's harmful ultraviolet radiation. This has had a detrimental effect on our climate due to increased temperatures resulting in warming seas, adverse weather events and the melting of polar ice.

The aim of this portfolio is to examine data gathered from many trusted sources and identify metrics to establish the impact of emissions globally. This study will also investigate countries that are actively increasing the use of renewable energy sources to mitigate the impact of greenhouse gas emissions.
